Google has always followed the same pattern for last couple of years with its Android naming process and this time is no different. They go sequentially down the alphabet and you guess the name. The users are asked to give suggestions and poll for their choices. Well, this time too, they were open to suggestions and received suggestions such as Nutella, Nankatai, etc. In a short video posted before the announcement via Twitter and Snapchat, the company suggested the operating system could be called ‘Nutmeg’, ‘Nectarine’, ‘Nachos’ or ‘Noodles’. But, in keeping with previous dessert-themed names such as Ice Cream Sandwich and KitKat, it has settled on “Nougat”.
The Android with its most stable release, brings new features like an improved notification shade and split-screen multitasking to the mobile OS, while also improving on features like Doze that came with Marshmallow last year. The release also has Daydream, Google’s new VR platform, baked in, though it’ll only be supported by Daydream-ready handsets running the OS.
The highlight of Android Nougat is split-screen multitasking. The device screen will show two different apps simultaneously, and video apps will support picture-in-picture mode. The system fills the screen with two apps, showing them either side-by-side or one-above-the-other. The user can drag the dividing line separating the two in order to make one app larger and the other smaller. Manufacturers of larger devices will be able to choose to enable freeform mode, allowing users to freely resize each activity. If the manufacturer enables this feature, the device offers freeform mode in addition to split-screen mode.
Directly reply from notifications and one can see more app information are part of enhanced notification feature. The Direct Reply feature will let you quickly respond to text messages or update task lists within the notification interface. The inline reply action is an additional button attached to the notification. There is also something called ‘Bundled Notifications’ that groups notifications from the same app together. Grouped notifications can be expanded into notifications by tapping the new expansion button or a two-finger gesture.
Less RAM usage
Google is working on Project Svelte to minimize the RAM used by the system and apps across different Android devices. Thus Android N is focused on optimizing the running of apps in background.
In Android N, Google has expanded the scope of Quick Settings and added more room for additional Quick Settings tiles that can accessed across a paginated display area by swiping left or right. Google also lets you choose which Quick Settings tiles appear and where they are displayed, allowing users to add or move tiles just by dragging and dropping them.
Now with all new features, we need to wait until Nougat is actually released which is expected to be this fall.
So what do you think of Nougat. Do let us know in the comments below.

With thousands of expressive emojis and funny GIF reactions out there, it can be hard to choose the right one in the heat of the conversation. But now a new application Dango suggests which emoticon, gif, meme is best suited for what you are writing. Dango, a new Android app from the Toronto-based startup Whirlscape, aims to make it easier to sift through the ever-growing array of choices after being launched for android on June 8. It uses innovative machine learning algorithms that are designed specifically to suggest users with appropriate emoticons.
The Dango app is named after a Japanese dessert consisting of sweet dumpling balls on a skewer (and yes, there’s an emoji for it). It sits atop other communication apps like Slack, Snapchat, or the built-in texting app on your phone. It suggests emoji that it thinks fit well with what you’re typing or in response to what someone just typed to you. You tap on the suggestion to add to the conversation.
Dango spins its emoji prediction game everywhere
According to its creators, Dango spins its emoji prediction game everywhere, no matter if you’re using Messenger, Kik, Whatsapp, Snapchat, or any other messaging app. It’s also compatible with any third-party keyboard apps you might be using, although it may still vary. If you face incompatibility, just shoot the developers an e-mail and help them support your keyboard.
Rather than simply coming up with word associations (such as a chicken emoji if you type “chicken”), Dango uses deep-learning techniques to try to figure out what whole sentences are expressing and then give you suggestions it thinks are related. For instance, if you type “She said yes!” Dango will show you the emoji for a ring and a bride with veil, among others.
In order to understand the meaning of what you are saying, Dango uses neural network- a computational structure with millions of adjustable parameters connected in ways similar to network of neurons in brain. The team created neural network by randomly initializing these parameters and then showing the network millions of real world examples of emojis use taken from across the web. At first the network just guesses randomly, but over time with each new training example, it slightly adjusts its millions of parameters so it performs better on that example.
While there are currently 1,624 emojis, this does not mean that there are only 1,624 meanings. When you use emoji, their meaning is determined by how they look and the context of their usage, which can be highly diverse. For example, a waving hand can mean hello, goodbye or simply a high five. This means the number of concepts Dango can represent is much greater than simply the number of individual emojis.
Currently, Dango is completely free and available only on Android. Further updates will probably introduce additional functionalities.

Facing heat from huge popularity of Twitter’s Periscope and Facebook Live, YouTube is throwing its hat into the ring. Better late than never, the company just announced that it is soon going to allow users to broadcast live video from their mobile devices with the touch of a button.
YouTube Live Streaming
Faster & Reliable
YouTube’s mobile streaming interface looks similar to Periscope’s, with viewer comments scrolling up the screen over the broadcast, but YouTube says its existing infrastructure gives it an advantage over competitors, with streamers and their viewers able to search live broadcasts just as they can search recorded videos.
Mobile live streaming, baked right into the core
Simplicity is the name of the game when going live with video streaming, and YouTube is taking it very seriously making things quite minimal. According to YouTube Creator Blog “YouTube mobile live streaming will be baked right into the core YouTube mobile app. You won’t need to open anything else, just hit the big red capture button right there in the corner, take or select a photo to use as a thumbnail, and you can broadcast live to your fans and chat in near real time.”
The app lets you decide whether or not you want a chat feature to be enabled, and you can also elect to notify your subscribers when you go live. YouTube has promised to bring it to general users “soon.” Meanwhile, only a handful of big-name channels will be able to broadcast live from their YouTube apps, including political news show The Young Turks and vlogger Alex Wassabi.

Apple products are news makers and there is nothing different with the most awaited iPhone 7. Since the start of the year, iPhone 7 has been in the news, be it for its design, specifications or expected features and what not.
iPhone 7, which is expected to release this fall, is rumored to have a close resemblance with its predecessors. The Tech Giant follows a traditional pattern of overhauling the design of its flagship iPhone every two years, but this seems to change this year. Apple is rumored to release iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus with the screen size similar to the previous generation of iPhone 6s & 6s Plus i.e. 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches.
No more standard 3.5 mm earpods
According to Wall Street Journal, only noticeable change will be removal of 3.5mm headphone jack and replacing it with its new Ear Pods with standard Lightning Connector which is used for fast charging as of now. According to the recent news, apple could be offering a lightning adapter in order to allow its customers to use their conventional Ear pods or Headphones with new iPhone. As with the removal of headphone jack and using the charging port for the headphones, there are doubts about charging the phone while the Ear Pods are plugged in. To resolve this issue, Apple is also exploring the option of Wireless charging technology that could be included in the new iPhone 7. Additionally, Apple is said to be updating the proximity sensor to a “dual specification” that the company hopes will be more accurate. It’s not entirely clear what the report means by dual specification, but presumably the omitter and receiver will be broken into two.
At the same time, it is rumored that headphone jack can be stayed and can be joined by a Dual SIM tray, given the fact that no iPhone has featured such capabilities before. However, we don’t believe Apple will ever go in that direction and offer a dual sim phone.
A Dual Lens Camera Setup
Sources have suggested that a dual camera set up could be offered on iPhone 7 plus model while its sibling could only get a larger camera with just one lens. It is rumored that Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi are also exploring dual lens camera for their upcoming smartphones, so it will be interesting to see what the mobile industry offers.
Now an iPhone with even larger storage
The iPhone 7 Plus model could also be an only model receiving a 256 GB storage option. Thus iPhone 7 plus can be offered with 16 Gb, 64 GB, and 256 GB, i.e. Apple is all set to remove its 128 GB version. Moreover, iPhone 7 may ship with 2GB RAM compared to 3 GB option in plus version.
Recent leaks about the product suggest that Apple is rethinking its home button for this year handset. Instead of a button, it will provide a touch sensitive pad. Users will have to perform tapping actions to activate specific actions. Battery life is expected to be same or slightly better than its predecessor iPhone 6s plus. Apple is also working on AMOLED displays for future products, but this may not be included in the coming release.
The rumored release date of the awaited iPhone 7 is this fall, i.e. at the end of September 2016.
Whatever the final product will be, Expect even longer waiting queues in front of Apple Stores this fall. So which features you are most excited about. Share your views in comments with us.

The Nexus line-up has always been criticized for its average camera quality. And again in yesterday’s announcement from Google, no one was expecting something exciting in this front. Furthermore, users started getting worrisome once Google started talking about the lack of OIS (optical image stabilization) in new flagship.
But Google spent a good deal of time talking about the new camera sensor in the Nexus 6P. Google claims its new phones have such a big camera sensor, that it doesn’t need image stabilization. The large 1.55 (1/2.3”-type sensor) is bigger than the original Nexus 6, and even bigger than the new iPhone 6s Plus, which Apple made a big splash about. Large sensor enables to capture more light even in dark environments, something similar to what we have seen with HTC’s UltraPixel method and result in an overall excellent image, and top quality video recording.
These reports have now been confirmed by at least one reliable source – camera experts DxOMark. It is a popular website that tests cameras, and breaks everything down into two categories, which are photo and video. Each part of how the camera performs gets a score, and is rounded out for one overall result. You will be surprised to learn that Google’s Nexus 6P scored an 84 on the benchmark, just behind the Galaxy S6, placing it on second position in best camera smartphones ahead of even the iPhone 6 and even the LG G4 and its 16 megapixel camera with OIS.
The all new Nexus 6P is available starting today at the Google Store, starting at $499. Right now Google is accepting pre-orders, and should start shipping before the end of October.

The complete LG Nexus 5X specs have been leaked out along with feature highlights. Seems like leaked features and specs are intended for use on the 5X’s product page. According to leaked images Nexus 5X will offer a 5.2-inch full HD 1920×1080 display, A 12.3 MP rear camera with dual flash and optical image stabilization, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. Seems like fingerprint sensor will become a new norm in future android flagships.
The handset will be powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor. It will support 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM which does seem a bit small for a new phone coming out in late 2015, but as Nexus 5X will be a mid range device, it will not disappoint with the performance in its class. It will support 16 & 32 GB memory options and a USB Type-C connector. The Nexus 5X will support a slim profile with only 7.9 mm thickness. Meanwhile, the lack of wireless charging is puzzling since that feature was in the Nexus 4, 5, and 6.
According to multiple news outlets, the Nexus 5X is also said to be priced starting at $380 for the 16GB model, or $100 more for 32GB.
All will fully be revealed tomorrow at 9:00 AM PT/12:00 PM ET.
Update : We have got a hands on video on Nexus 5X Prototype
We’re at least a one step closer to creating the “Star Trek”-style Teleportation. The concept of Quantum teleportation, the act of reconstructing quantum data somewhere else, is impressive just by itself. A team of scientists at the US’ National Institute of Standards and Technology have managed to one-up that feat. They’ve shattered the distance record for quantum teleportation.
Sounds like a real time Sci-Fi
The team successfully managed to transfer the information from one photon to another across 63 miles of optical fiber. That may not sound like much, but it’s a remarkable achievement as 99 percent of photons would never make the complete trip. It was only possible thanks to newer detectors that could pick up the faint signal of the lone light particle.
Real time teleportation, as seen in sci-fi movies, is still a long way to go, but the achievement does open the door to many possibilities in quantum computing. You could use unbreakable quantum encryption at inter-city distances, for instance. Imagine a future with more instantaneous communication with astronauts in space or rovers on Mars alongside unprecedented network speed and security thanks to quantum encryption.

Taking out the trash is an inherently dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it. If Volvo’s ROAR project has its way, garbage men will be replaced by autonomous, two-wheeled robots.
ROAR (Robot-based Autonomous Refuse handling)
According to Volvo’s press release “Imagine a robot that quietly and discreetly enters your neighbourhood, collects bin and empties it into the refuse truck. It is done without waking the sleeping families and without heavy lifting for the refuse truck’s driver. This is the purpose of ROAR, a joint project with the aim to develop tomorrow’s smart transport solutions.”
This joint project involves Volvo, the Chalmers University of Technology, Mälardalen University in Sweden, Penn State University, and waste recycling company Renova, all with the goal of producing safe, quiet machines that streamline the trash collection process and reduce lifting strains on humans.
“Within Volvo Group we foresee a future with more automation,” says Per-Lage Götvall, Volvo Patent Coordination Manager. “This project provides a way to stretch the imagination and test new concepts to shape transport solutions for tomorrow.”
As far as ROAR goes, a working prototype will be tested in June 2016 on a real garbage truck manufactured by Renova.
If you’ve been waiting for the latest Google Nexus flagship, your wait may soon be over. Google just sent over an invite for “some tasty new treats and much s’ more” September 29th in San Francisco. It didn’t say what will be revealed but based on the timing, we’re thinking Android Marshmallow release
Google Event Invite
The Nexus line is also due for an update and the invite references Marshmallow, the latest version of Android. The company is also expected to reveal two new Nexus handsets and, possibly, a new Chromecast at the event.
Based on past leaks and rumours, the LG Nexus 5X is said to feature a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display; a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor; 3GB of RAM; Adreno 418 GPU; a 12.3-megapixel sensor; a 5-megapixel front camera, and a 2700mAh battery.
A report from earlier this month claimed the new Nexus 5X will be more expensive than the original Nexus 5. It is tipped to be launched at $399 for the 16GB model, while the 32GB will cost $449.
As for the larger Huawei Nexus 6P, it is tipped to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 SoC. A 5.7-inch QHD display and front-facing speakers are also tipped, apart from a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.
Google is also expected to finally launch the next-generation Chromecast dongle at the event as well. The new dongle as per a recent leak will feature a balloon-like design, and as much rumoured earlier, support for faster dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac. It is also tipped to bring support for Spotify – a music streaming service notably missing from the list. Of course, Google could also have a few surprises up its sleeve. For that you can catch the live stream on YouTube.
