KFC is one of the leading fast food chains in India. In March, the fast food chain launched the 5-in-1 Meal Box to provide a complete meal at an affordable price to their customers. But with a step forward, KFC has tied up with a digital agency, Blink Digital to launch ‘watt a box’. The box will have 5-in-1 meal with a built in power bank to charge a phone.
Delicious Fried Chicken with Phone Charging
This special box will contain features such as USB, micro-USB and Lightning connections — and even includes the cables — to charge your mobile devices with delicious 5 meals. The box comes with magnetic flaps and contains your usual meal but has a power bank integrated on its side. The best thing is the power bank is removable, so you can carry it along. The power bank claims to have a 6,100mAh battery.
The fast-food chain has launched this limited-edition “Watt-A-Box” packages in Delhi and Mumbai. Most of these boxes are up for grabs through an online contest, although some are being gifted to customers at select stores. If you are one of the lucky winners of a Watt a Box, you’ll not only get some truly unhealthy (but simply amazing) grub, but a 6,100mAh battery with all the connections — and cables — you’ll need to charge your favorite device.
Do It satisfy the claims??
According to the test conducted by BGR this Box fall short for the claims made. They tested on iPhone 5s with the battery pack and gained 17 percent after half-an-hour. Not terrible, until you factor in that the battery bank was completely drained during that time. After recharging it to 100 percent, they attempted to charge a Redmi Note 3, but only managed to get 7 percent before the battery died again.
Clearly the box doesn’t fulfill its claims but can charge your phone at least till the time you finish your yummy food. So, as unlikely as it may seem, the best portable battery banks probably aren’t coming in KFC containers. But, that doesn’t make the promotion any less cool.
Besides, this isn’t the first time these fast food Brands—Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell—has tried such innovations. Back in September last year, KFC came up with the ‘Don’t Panic Man’ campaign in Romania, which rewarded people with a free meal for coming to a KFC store when social media platforms were down. KFC is not the only one to toy with such marketing campaigns. Pizza Hut came up with a limited edition box in Hong Kong that converted into a projector for smartphones. McDonald’s had launched a special edition of its Happy Meal boxes in Sweden that could be converted into cardboard VR headsets. Coca Cola too had a similar cardboard VR headset one could make from its 12-pack cartons.
So you never know what is next in store for these Brands to attract their customers.
