Home Science Google is revamping UI for Play Store 4.4

The entire Android world has been eagerly waiting for update to Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 5, not to mention rumor after rumor everyday. This afternoon something different has surfaced, Android Police have managed to get their hands on UI screenshots of the upcoming 4.4 update that showcase this new UI.

This leaked UI seems to be a work-in-progress and not the complete version of the new Google Play Store for Android. It looks like Google will be dropping the long menu and settings options in favor of a quick slide-out navigation drawer. Instead of using one pop-up when a user selects menu, you’ll now have a quick to access slide-out navigation bar according to latest UI standards of stock Google apps.

The slide-out navigation will have the following tabs:

  • Store Home
  • My Apps, My Movies & TV
  • Shop – this one doesn’t appear at all times
  • My Wishlist
  • Redeem

The tipster also revealed some details about what’s next for the Play Store besides this minor change. Google is reportedly going to revamp the entire user interface to closely resemble Google Now, Google Keep, and the newly updated Gmail app with a card-based UI.

This update is expected to roll out at the same time as Android 4.4 KitKat starts reaching other Nexus devices, so the wait will probably be over by end of this month.
